Columbus-based Abercrombie & Fitch and Cardinal Health Inc., are among 60 U.S. employers who have signed onto a business coalition that will push for an expansion of federal anti-discrimination laws to include sexual orientation and gender identity.

The Human Rights Campaign, which announced the group today, said the companies involved have headquarters in 22 states, and more than 4.2 million employees in all 50 states. The companies account for a combined $1.9 trillion in revenue.

The list includes Microsoft and Apple; Facebook, Google and Twitter; Coke and Pepsi, and more.

Ohio and 31 other states allow discrimination against LGBT people. National proposals have been introduced in Congress for about 20 years. The current legislation was introduced a month after the U.S. Supreme Court’s June 2015 ruling for nationwide marriage equality.
